The Spring 2014 was the inaugural season of the Composers Collective. Composers met in Manhattan every second Friday.
The executive committee for the Spring 2014 season was comprised of:

Favorite Composer Show & Tell
February 28, 2014
Members brought in examples (scores or audio/video) of two works by their favorite composer for analysis and deconstruction with the group. There were no specific constraints on genre, time period, style, etc with the main objective for all members to expand their knowledge of different techniques used by different composers.
March 14 and April 11, 2014
Two meetings were devoted to Q&A sessions with guest speakers on the following topics:
- An overview of copyright law and other legal considerations (Greg Knowles)
- Career advice and score analysis with a professional composer (Dr. Dalit Warshaw)
March 28 and April 4, 2014
Two working critique sessions were held in preparation for the 2014 Spring season concert to allow members to bring in works-in-progress, discuss compositional challenges encountered and get constructive feedback/suggestions from each other.
April 25, 2014
A peer review session was held ahead of the 2014 Spring season concert. The objective was for members to bring in parts for musicians to read through and check for issues, e.g. “unplayable” double stops/out of instrument range, potential technical playability issues, notation issues, etc. Musicians were present for this session.
May 9, 2014
A rehearsal session was held ahead of the 2014 Spring season concert subsequent to the initial reading. Composers were given the opportunity to revise their works from the initial reading session on April 25, 2014. The primary aim was to run through all pieces at each session.
Spring 2014 Concert
May 15, 2014
The inaugural Spring 2014 concert. In celebration of the diversity of the group, a four piece ensemble comprised of clarinet, horn, cello and piano premiered nine original new works in an intimate invite-only concert at the Rehearsal Hall at the National Opera America Center in New York. Two of the works also featured guest vocalist, Mary Kathryn Monday.
